I'm on the hunt for a new head setup for my rig, and I'm starting to get really interested in Markbass. I played the Little Mark Tube 800 at a local shop and loved it. However I've heard that the Little Mark II/III blows it out of the water on some of the threads here. Something to do with the analog rather than digital power section. I'm running through an Ampeg 8x10 at the moment, and in the future, I'd really like to pick up two 6x10s. I've heard that the Little Mark II's/III's have a little bit of trouble pushing 8x10 fridges since they're 500w and solid state only. My question is if I pick up a LM II/III, is it possible to run it as a preamp in front of a power amp like a Crown or Carvin? I know there is no "preamp send" jack on the LM II/III. Is there another way to do this? |

You'll have just ok performance then you'll be depressed when you hear your amp and cabs really driven by the correct setup. |

But, why not a VT, BDDI, Eden, Hartke etc... pedal in front of a Peavey IPR 3000 power amp? You'll save a chunk of change and sound great!

For splitting the signal, I jump rather than split. Just go from one place to the next.

The LMII/LMIII absolutely does not have any issues pushing an 810 fridge.

I chose the LMIII to run it. That little guy rips for sure... It can shake the windows on the other side of the house, downstairs. Never even had it on full volume... |

I ran a balanced line from the SD800 DI out to the power amp. The SD800 DI out is very hot and will drive most power amps very well when turned up to a sufficient level. I understand the LM DI out is not as hot as the SD800, so I can't say how well that would work.

| | | | I'd be curious if the Markbass power amp has a signature sound.
I don't think they'd branch into PA/FOH so it would make sense to add their own sound to it.

See if the sound is as different as a lot of people are saying. If it's what they say it is, I'll probably go with the LM III, if there's really not much difference, the LM Tube 800. |

Having the DI level control on the front of the amp makes it practical and the dual sweepable mid eqs are great.
