So, in conclusion, I strongly feel that the SD1200 is closer to the F1/F500 than the SD800...or was it the other way around? | Thanks for chiming in. I'm surprised there aren't more SD1200 owners here on TB. I have a lead on a used SD1200 and am wanting more power but with the same tone as my beloved F500, hence the question. |

Seems like a great product.
Maybe the die-hard power mongers are still leary of lightweight amps.
I wonder how many they've sold worldwide.

this is my 1st post for a long time. I recently received my sd 1200 after having to wait 5 months and it was truly worth the wait. Haven't gigged with it yet just a few rehersals. This amp sounds warm and totally different to my LMT 800 and markbass 2x10 combo. I am using fender precision
AMDV and markbass 4x10 cabs. I'm having difficulty settiing the low mid and high mid frequencies correctly. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also there seems to be a bit of a dead spot on the master volume before the volume kicks in. Does anyone have the same on theirs ?
Thankz heapz and cheers. |

Thankz heapz and cheers. | Hi, Paz. I, also, notice a dead spot in the first 10mm or so of turning the master volume from the "off" position. If that is what you are experiencing, then I probably wouldn't worry too much about that.
As far as EQ goes, what tone are you trying to achieve or, in other words, what is the problem you are having? |

the problem i'm having is roughly estimating where the exact values are, due to the positioning of the dots on both the low and high mid knobs. After i spend more time with the amp i think i wil get used to it. I too love my sd 1200.
Thankz and cheers from across the big pond. |

Thankz and cheers from across the big pond. | I just did some rough estimation using the low and high points from the user manual and a little math in Excel. This assumes that the change is linear throughout the turn of the knob.
Low Mid
100 < -- fully counterclockwise
275 <-- 9-10 o'clock position
450 < -- noon position
625 <-- 2-3 o'clock position
800 < -- fully clockwise
High Mid
700 < -- fully counterclockwise
2,025 <-- 9-10 o'clock position
3,350 < -- noon position
4,675 <-- 2-3 o'clock position
6,000 < -- fully clockwise |

Only problem is that they don't currently have it in stock, although they say more are on order. So I have no clue how long it might be before I actually get one. But when I do, if I really like it I'll be selling off my (excellent) rack system that has served me well for a long time. I'm just getting too old to lug around heavyweight gear anymore.

How do you like it with the SD1200? | It is an AE212 and I like it very much paired with the SD1200. A few times a year, I get together with a loud power trio to jam in some rehearsal space. When I first got the SD1200, my initial goal was to "bury" the drummer for fun. The F500 I also use wasn't able to do it and eventually peter'd out. However, after the first 30 or so minutes of jamming with the SD1200, the drummer reached over and lowered the volume because it was so overbearing. Mission accomplished.
I find it similar to the F500 in tone (which I still love and use and will be a backup to the SD1200). I actually like both amps very much for fingerstyle and slap when used with my Lakland 55-02 and "A" jazz bass. I would just say that as you keep turning up the volume, the F500 will eventually compress in the low end while the SD1200 will not. |

Great-sounding rig, but I'm tired of lugging around heavyweights.
But I always like to have two rigs in case something goes wrong with one and it has to go in for repairs. Here is the one I've been using lately:
It also sounds great. Once I get the SD1200, I'll start out by pairing it with my Bag End Q10BXD, which is an awesome cab. But it is very heavy. I might eventually get the Bergentino AE212, but for now I think I'll live with the weight of the Bag End since it does sound so good.

I have both the LMT 800 & SD 1200. I have giged with the LMT and was never happy with it's tone because of a slight harshness in the mids that i could not dial out. Was using fender ADP 5 maple board ash body. Got the SD1200 & the problem disappeared. The SD has a full/fat sounding tone on all notes that can be heard even at low volume. When turned up the bottom end remains clear & does not distort. I briefly a/b both at low volume yesterday with fender custom classic jazz 5. Kept going back to the SD. I think the sweepable high/low mids on the SD is the key. On the LMT the low mid is set @ 360, is fixed and maybe to high for some basses. I'm using markbass 104 HF & 104 HR cabs. Haven't used the full rig @ a gig yet but the SD + 104 HF sounds absolutley amazing. Considering buying another SD1200.
Many thankz to my fellow TB brothers who helped me sort out my mid deliminea. |

I ordered mine awhile ago, but they estimated that they wouldn't get more until 12/1/11.

And they'll probably offer another 10 or 15% off if they have a Thanksgiving sale. Of course it's always possible that they could raise the price again at any time. I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago; so it's been low for awhile now.
