Markbass sound

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a markbass 104hr and a carvin bx1500. Diggin the carvin but I'm finding the 104hr sound very tight & compressed, and not very warm. In fact my hartke 410 sounds warmer. I'm wondering if its because its rear ported? Would the front ported 410 give a warmer sound?

Thoughts?

One thing with Markbass gear is that with neutral settings you hear your real bass guitar sound -- good or bad.

It's the Markbass cab sound. Markbass cabs always seem to have a prominent upper mid bump no matter how they're made...it's kind of a signature thing. This results in people either loving them or hating them...there seems to be not much middle ground.

The front ported 410 Markbass cab is a little warmer, but not because of front porting...it's because it's a bigger cab. Port location makes no difference. What matters is the size of the cab and the tuning of the port.
