I know a dude who runs the markbass hybrid head (don't know the model name) through a GK neo 212 and LOVES it. He says he's trying to convince himself to buy the matching markbass cab but he loves markbass/gk setup too much.

I played that same set-up, LMll/Neo410, for about 6 months and it really worked well. I'm not a tweetr fan so I just turned it off on the cab and cranked up the VLE on the amp for a pretty impressive old school tone. Plenty loud too.

fwiw I was just about to pull the trigger on a neo 112 for my LMII when I caught a deal on a used aggie gs112 - I couldn't be happier! though I'd still like to hear the GK (and the new Hartke 112) ...

I've done exactly this. I paired a LMIII with a GK Neo 410 and it sounded, to me, waaaaaaay better the GK 700RB-II that I tried the cab seemed to lack mids in a really bad way. The tone wasn't scooped so much as just dead unless you left the pickup pan dead center. Favoring the bridge or neck pups was useless if I wanted a tone that I liked. I was excited to try the cab but severely disappointed by it.

So you liked the LMIII with the GK 4/10 neo cab but didn't like the 700RB-II with the GK 4/10 neo cab ??

Yep, that about it. But there are cabs that I like more than the GK 410NEO as well.

My GK 212 combo (neo's from Eminence) are dark, with much more scoop in the upper mids. My F-1 makes the cabinet sound a little more mid forward for sure.

Another question, when running a Markbass LM II through a GK Neo 4/10'' cab do I just need to run a regular speaker cable 1/4" to Speakon or Speakon to Speakon, not the special GK cable I'm using when running a 1001RB II through the Neo 4/10"...Thanks

After almost 4 years now, I'm still looking for a cab that doesn't sound good with the LMII/III (or at least a cab that sounds better with another head).

The very even voicing of the LMII with the beautifully set low end/hi pass filter and the very useful EQ is a relatively 'neutral' tonal source for a cab. Some find it a touch dull versus the more juiced/extreme voicing of some of the other micro's, but if you have decent technique and a good sounding bass, and want it 'warm, even, and totally clean' it is hard to go wrong, and it is about the easiest head to 'cab match' I've ever experienced.

And +1... regular speakon with that cab.
