that amp won't like two 4ohm speakers in parallel, but will love two 8's in parallel. two parallel 4's will equal 2ohms. two parallel 8's will equal 4....

8 ohms means if you hook up a second cab you wont drop the amp to an unsafe impedance.

However if you only plan to use one cab then you would get all 500 watts to it via 4 ohms.

Which is thermal only, not real world mechanical handling ability (which is usually around 1/2 the thermal rating depending on how you EQ).

Also, a single cabinet can only move so much air, no matter how many watts you throw at it.

I got rid of both of my 4x10 cabs and bought two of these Traveler 102P cabs to use with my Little Mark II, or F1 amp heads. Sounds awesome! I use one as a stand-alone on club gigs. Kills!

Get the 8 ohm version that way you can add an extra cab later, you probably won't notice the extra wattage from running at 4 ohms unless you actually add a second cab

I'd say be careful with the VPF knob and low knob while using a Traveler 102P with a LMIII head. Reason is, I have a CMD 121H combo that I found would run out of excursion when too much los are dialed in and at upper volumes. If I tried to let my plucking hand get floppy on the strings it would send a spike through that ate up all excursion. At that point the voice coil was slapping the frame, or whatever, making a sharp clicking noise (no, it wasn't the strings hitting the pickups). The 102P has more cone area, though, and may not be as sensitive to such, just as my 151P cab is not, but being that the 102P has a smallish cab, I'm not sure. Just thought I'd pass the info along in case you need to be careful. Know that the VPF filter will scoop mids and raise lows and highs. OFF is fully counterclockwise.

I think the LMIII/traveler setup is a great idea. definitely get the 8 ohm speaker so you can expand. I have experience with a very similar setup: I've been gigging with a LM800 and an 8 ohm traveler 102p for the past couple years, often with a loud rock band that has horn players. I keep the EQ almost flat, filters off. obviously this is not a "wall of sound" setup on its own, but it's very loud and clear, and I usually have PA support. even without a PA this little rig makes a big enough sound for most rooms. anyway, I have only to add a second cab if I want more sound.
