Markbass Traveler 151P cab weight?

Sign in to disble this ad
The website says 37.3 lbs., one of the selling points to me. Anyway, I put mine on my digital bathroom scales and it said 46.6 lbs.! What the...? Maybe it's the scales, or the way I set it on there. Did it twice with the same result, though. Haven't tried holding it and comparing that to my own body weight yet, though.

Anyone else have this cab who could weigh theirs? Thanks for any info. I'm really curious.

I would think it's the scale or the way it was put on the scale.

Might be. I'll try holding the cab tonight and see how that turns out.

Did that, and got 45.6 lbs. The scales weighed me in by myself at 208, and that sounds about right.

Anyone else have this cab?

Hmmm...that's weird. I would think that they would have been called out on false advertising by now if the cabs legitimately weighed almost 10lbs more than advertised.

Maybe when they were making cab someone put a brick inside of it...like when a you're in surgery and a Junior Mint somehow gets inside.

My Traveler 121P is approx 36 lbs. I would think that the bigger speaker/cab size would add more than 1.5 lbs.? Mine is a little big, but easy to carry in 1 hand (left) with my CMD 121 combo in the other hand.

On the website:

CMD 121P combo = 29.3 lbs.
Traveler 121H cab = 34.61 lbs.

There is no "Traveler 121P." What do you have?

The NY 121 cab = 29.3 lbs.

This is getting very interesting.

Oops, I meant to say 121 H. It is definitely bigger than my combo amp, but still not that heavy or bulky. I like you, weighed mine on a digital b/r scale and it came in around 36 lbs, but I'm sure it could be 34.61. I would think your 151 H would be at least 5 lbs more ??????

Ok. Gotcha.

In addition, I also have a CMD 121H combo. My 151P cab has always felt heavier, even though it should weigh 2.2 lbs. less (the combo is stated at 39.5 lbs.). Guess I better weigh the CMD 121H combo next and see what I get.

I try not to worry about the numbers, if I can pick it up, I do, if not, I get a dolly. I used an Ampeg SVT 3 in a heavy wooden case for many years and that thing was like picking up lead. I carried it up many flights of stairs so I don't complain too much about the weight of my Markbass Jeff Berlin combo (which is crazy light to me).

Weigh your Berlin and see if it is 46.74 lbs., as stated on the Markbass website.

I have no idea what it actually weighs but it's probably pretty close to that from just the feeling I get from picking it up. I try to not let little details like that bother me if it's going to make any actual impact on my life. I would expect some variation as some of the parts may have changed since the prototype was weighed. It's it 10 pounds off, is that really a big deal; it's still a lot lighter than they used to be and I don't want something too light or it would probably break if it takes a tumble. Just my opinion of course.

To some people it is. I remember a lot of guys buying this stuff based on how much it weighs. If they say it weighs 35lbs or whatever, and it's closer to 45lbs, that's a pretty big percentage difference.

Hmm. To each his own I suppose.

Ok, I'm 61 years old, have a bad knee, and back problems. I could've saved a lot of money by buying heavier stuff, but it's the weight issue that got me to buy what I have. Ten years from now I'll probably be wishing it were even lighter. So, yes, it DOES matter, and it is NOT a small detail to me.

Have you tried contact MB yet, or Peter Murray?

No. I thought maybe I should try to find a different scale and see what happens. But, then again, maybe I should contact them.

I'm doing fine getting my gear around, but I've become quite curious about what the real weight is. If it's off this much then Markbass needs to address it, i think.

Yeah, I would check more out of curiosity if anything. I really can't see them publishing specs that far off, but companies do all kinds of deceptive things. I would not expect them to however...

Maybe the scales over in Italy are totally different as part of a larger conspiracy to keep the ladies in check. With so many good looking Italian women, if they weigh themselves and think they weigh 10 lbs more...

No, I don't expect Markbass to be putting out false info, not at all. But, I really am curious to know what's happening here.

I contacted Peter Murray, and he is awaitng a reply from the home office. (Thanks, Peter).

For the record, I am a true Markbass fan.

Well, I was at the doctor today and weighed 206 on their scales, so it looks like mine aren't really off.

Still waiting on Peter Murray to hear from the home office.
