I'm in the market for a 212 cab but want something powerful, portable and affordable. I've looked at GK & Avatar. Anyone care to make some recommendations?

What I want to do is have two cabs (one for small gigs; one for bigger ones) and then be able to use both on large gigs.

GK Cabs are either loved or passed by. It's a "have to hear it" kinda thing.

I personally love my 115MBE and I'm looking for another. I'm not sure if you like effects, but with the horn on and effects it gets kinda noisy, my only complaint.

I think I'll go with two 2-12's instead of a 410/210.. Reason- when used as a stand alone cab, a 212 is going to put out more lows than a 410 and they are about the same size (and certainly more lows than a 210).

Myth. Endlessly busted. Depends on everything except driver cone diameter.

Check into the Genz Benz NeoX-212T Cabinets. Lite, 600 Watts RMS good frequency response. They are 4 ohm cabinets so your amp would have to be able to handle either a 2 ohm load or a stereo amp that can handle 4 ohms per side, which is what I plan to do when I can afford another cab and amp head!

Mesa PH2x12.
Not as light or as cheap as some cabs out there, but certainly sounds excellent. Most likely my next cab.

PM me - I have a Aguilar GS212 I'm not using. It's 4ohms. Do a search for GS212 to get feedback. It's a good cab.

Try some stuff out and see what fits your tonal needs. Listen with your ears, not your eyes. Then buy two of them.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy a single 8 ohm Avatar TB153 and see if you need a second cab. If you do, wait and buy an Avatar TB123 when they come out (and they almost surely will someday and stack it on top. That TB153 cabinet is pretty much the king of budget cabs right now.

I'm happy with my GS212, but I haven't tried other 212's.
I like the tone better than my S410. With flat EQ, the 212 definitely puts out a more solid low end.
