In the market for a new head.

Hey guys, my 700RB is going to need to be upgraded and repaired (the fan doesn't come on). I'm just starting to get phone calls for gigs. It's working right now, and I use an external fan to keep it cool, but I know I'm going to have to send it off to get fixed and upgraded to the second version sometime in the near future.

I really love my 700RB's tone. I really like every GK I've gotten to play, save the backline series. The only thing I'd like to hear in my head is maybe a little more warmth (when I say warmth, I mean a nice clean reggae tone that rattles the house), I guess that'd be a tube tone? Right now I'm running a 410SBX+ and a 115SBX-II (I like it, even though it may not be optimal).

I'm going to be playing everything from small clubs to amphitheaters for the next year or two, so I'd need something with some umph.

I've been looking at:

800RB
2001RB
Fusion 550
or even the MB series (either the fusion or the solid state).

Which would you guys recommend? If need be, I could build another rig of cabs around the new head and just keep my current rig for a studio setting or practice setting.

I'm leaning most towards the MB series (separate heads) so I could just keep using my 700RB when it gets repaired, and just bring it along in my gig bag as a "just in case". I'd probably get one of the new MBE cabs (212 @ 4ohms) to maybe use for more club type rigs.

Thoughts?

Note: not to discourage other opinions, but I've tried Eden, SWR, Markbass, and Genz-Benz and I don't think I'd enjoy these amps as my go-to rig. If were to switch to another company, it'd probably be another "workhorse" company like Ampeg, Peavey, Traynor, or even Acoustic.

Here's another deciple of the Aguilar 500. After owning my GK 400RB for 37 hassle free years this Aguilar has given me a new outlook on quality and sound. Now the 400 RB is my backup. Check out the 500SC or 500 dual pre-amp heads. I'm bettin' your 700 would soon take on back-up duties too....Bud B

2001RB or the Fusion 550. The 800RB mught come up shy on horsepower. The MB Fusion when it ships may be a nice fit!

Just make sure it's the right size for your body, or you'll look funny.
