in the guitarist world they are more popular than eg. eminence, but i´m not sure about the bassist world.

i think the G in G10S-50 means this was originally a guitar speaker, but probably with lower resonance, making it more soutable for use with a bass.
the S means "small magnet" (M = medium size, H = heavy)
