Marshall MB4210 getting hot. Is it normal?

Hi.

Long time since my last visit, been playing a bit more and spending less time here on the forums : P

During the summer I noticed that my amp(Marshall MB4210) was getting hotter than usual but I just figured it was due to the summer beeing unusually hot. The weather got cooler but the amp did not. My first thought was dust. The amp was absolutely clean.

It seems to me that after about an hour of playing the whole metal casing of the amp gets hot and also all the cables connected to the amp. I don't have acces to an infrared thermometer and haven't tried figuring out witch parts of the amp actully get warm.

So I took the amp to a local electronics specialist. he claims that the heat is due to the preamp valve. Elaborate on this issue and any Marshall owners could tell me about the working temp of their amps.

PS: Seems I should spend more time here, takes some time to make a sentence in english....

You are a brave man owning an MB4210...

I had a grand total of 3 blow up on me in the space of two weeks. The first one was broken before it even left the shop, and the other to were replacements from Marshall, and only lasted a few days. All had faulty pots, and cabinet rattles.

I had two Marshall MB 4210s in a short space of time, both got hot like yours, what most concerned me though was their lack of power, even flat out on all channels they were not loud enough for my band, its not a real loud band either .
I returned them free of charge and bought a GK MB210 and have not looked back, not only is the GK less than half the weight but it kicks the Marshall`s butt in every way, I dealt with DV27 in the UK who were excellent in their service .

Wow. Seems like I've been having good luck then. I've had it for a bit longer than 2 years with no problems so far. I am currently in no position to buy a new amp and if thisone is bound for the Marshall graveyard then i guess I'll have to go without an amp for some time.
