Matching cabinets with different watts

Sign in to disble this ad
Need to know if I can match cabinets that are the same (brand and speaker size), but one is Neo (250 watts) and the other is ceramic (500 watts). Will each speaker have the same response, or will it be different?

Thanx..

Bob

The information you gave is not sufficient to determine how the cabs will perform. Would you tell us what cabs they are?

What kind of amp are you using and what is the wattage of the amp?
How many ohms is each cabinet?
Each cabinet should be rated at * watts RMS and * watts peak, what are those numbers?

They're different speakers so they will have different response. That said, speakers don't make power, they take it. Depending on the excursion capabilities, it's entirely possible the 250 watt speaker could handle more power in the lows than the 500 watt speaker.

Same brand and speaker size, but different speakers, so they will have a different response, as other posters have said.

Are they the same impedance (ohms)? If they are, they will evenly share the power coming from the amplifier.

I take it these are 12's? The sky wouldn't fall, your amp isn't strong enough to put either in real danger. Response and output between the neo and the ceramic LF will be quite different. Would have clearer sound using two of the same.

that amp peaks at 200 watts at 4ohms, using two 8 ohm speakers (in parallel) gives you a 4 ohm load. So you'll be getting up to 100 watts per speaker cab. They'll be fine
