Matrix 1U power amps
Anyone have any experience with these: http://pa.matrixamplification.com/xt-1useries.html
I noticed the bassist from deftones using one when he was here recently... He was using an axe fx unit into it and the running 2 Ampeg 810 cabs.
A little research shows a lot of low/down tuning guitarists using them with axe fx units but wondered how they would fare as pre/power rigs with a normal non digital bass pre
I suppose they probably aren't available in the states so not much info on them on here?
No, Interesting, but I'll skip them. I'm sure they sound fine.
Hefty chunk of change for 800w
Doesn't seem like 4 ohm per channel, 8 ohm bridge is much use to bass players around here.
From their site:
"We have customers using them with
compression drivers / tweeters of large three, four and five way systems
smaller passive mid sized top boxes
installations where the amps shallow depth allows placement where larger amps can not be deployed.
800 watt 8 ohm subs in bridged mode where a compact rack is required."
That would seem to limit their use for most bass use. I think guitarist using them are buying into the class-ab myths. Power amps are power amps.
Similar situation to the SYNQ amps available in Europe then as we'll, also only 8 ohm bridging unfortunately
