i have a doubt about the MB 500.

when use the gain, over 50%, the sound is distorted, like a overdrive.

is normal?

Thanks.

I run my MB2-500 into two 8 ohm 210 cabinets with a passive jazz bass.
Master at 3:00, Gain around 10:00 to 10:30...=...pure, clean, and Loud!
If I set it higher it'll over run the rest of the band!

The input stage will overdrive if you run it too high, try the padded setting, that's what I use.

On my MB2-500, I can get distortion if that's what I want. But it's a combination of the input level, the gain and whether I use the GIVE boost or not. It can be very clean and very loud or very dirty and very loud. You may want to try a higher Master volume setting and a lower Gain setting. If you have an active bass or if the signal from your bass is just too hot, you may want to engage the -10db pad.

thanks for yours answers

but when start to work the limiter?

Is necesary activate the -10db first for activated the limiter?

because the idea is limit the overal power for prevent saturations.

Do you have the limiter button (on the top right hand side) of your amp engaged?

How are the amp's controls set?

The GK input is the same on all their amps...running the input above about 11 o'clock starts to add distortion. Think of it like a guitar amp gain knob!

I run mine input 9, boost 12 and master to taste. Clean and punchy!

So pretty much like the settings pictured here (except for the contour):

Try Anarchyok's settings.

Active, or passive bass?

The gain knob is preamp gain.... not input gain. The only way to adjust the input gain is to use the pad, or increase/decrease your bass or effects going into the input. You will start to distort the preamp when the gain is at noon or higher.

Yes. Back it down to 9 to 12 oclock. And do not be afraid of the -10dB pad. I use it most of the time.

ok!

I contacted with GK and they told me the same thing

the gain control must be used between 9 o´clock to 12 o´clock (not over recomended) with the master volume to 3 o´clock, to obtain best and cleanest sound, with any bass!

and should be used the -10db pad, if the bass is active and powerfull.

with this configuration, the mb 500 gives high power, a lot of volume and great sound!

thanks everyone!
