MB2-500 for Aguilar TH 350????

Hey everybody...i have a GK rig that i so want to change up from. I have a TH pedal that i've used via effects send to get the Aguilar sound but now i want a REAL Aguilar amp, particularly the 350 because i'm short on cash. My question would be to you 350/500 owners, or anyone whom has used the amp, would the 350 cut it at gigs or should i just save up and get a 500? i hear the 350 is louder than what it rates, but would hate to pick up one and have to return it because it doesn't cut it and have to get the 500 anyway.

Depends on what kind of gigs you do, if there is pa support and if you run it at the 4ohms to maximize the output. If you are going to run it at 4ohms it is probable enough for most gigs. If you have pa support I would say you will be fine either way. To me the big thing would be getting full capacity out of the amp with either two 8ohm cabs or one 4ohm cab. With the TH500 you have more flexibility. Good luck.

Yeah my intentions are to buy a couple of 8 ohm 2x10's or 1x12's, Right now I have a GK Neo 4x10 cabinet. Would the 350 be powerful enough to drive that at most gigs without PA because of the speaker area????

I played a DB412 with a TH350 it was crazy loud. I personally own the TH500 and I love mine. It may be worth holding out a little longer and get the extra $200 for more wattage.

Yeah I should but I wanted to take advantage of the coupon offers going on at guitar center or musicians friend right now, preferably MF because they don't charge you taxes or shipping.

Maybe try financing with them? Alot of times you can do no interest for 12 to 18 months.

Well, the difference in wattage at both 8 ohms and 4 ohms between the TH350 and TH500 works out to be about 1.5dB of difference in volume. Without getting into a huge debate about it, most would agree that this is a "barely audible" degree of difference. So while there is a difference between the two, it is up to you to decide whether or not 1.5dB is
worth the extra $$$, and/or if it makes enough of a difference to matter.

Personally, I bought the TH350, pocketed the extra $200, and so far I'm doing just fine.

There will always be deals at online stores, don't worry about that...

What kind of music do you play? Do you like a cleaner sound or more of a driven sound? The difference in volume between the 350 and 500 might not be that big, but I bet the 350 will sound grindy and a little more compressed at a volume at which the 500 will sound cleaner and with more headroom.

I play primarily gospel and R&B, so some of the gigs i play can tend to get loud!!! My intention is to keep my TH pedal to use with the 350/500 to give me more headroom, sort of like a 2 channel Tone Hammer micro amp!!! thats why im thinking a 350 might be ok if i use the TH pedal along with it.

That's a good price. I'd move on that. You won't be disappointed!

I would save for the TH500. I rather have more than enough than just enough. I've owned both, sold the 350 and got another 500 for backup.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm also wondering if I even need a TH 500??? I've been using my TH pedal as the pre with my MB2-500 head and it sounds great that way for now. Anyone else use the ideal this way??? This way I can get my GS112 cabinets first... Love those cabs!!!!
