Question MB4210 DI way too hot

Sign in to disble this ad
My new Marshall MB4210 has a great range of sounds, but I only use the amp power for backline. I go through the PA for FOH.
My problem is the DI out from the amp is way too hot. With the gain turned right down on the mixer channel, the channel is still clipping most of the time.

Any one else have this problem, and a solution?

Look around for XLR attenuators. These plug in line with a mic cable to reduce the level feeding the mixer. They are also fairly easy to make.

Or use a line-level input rather than a mic input. May need to convert balanced to unbalanced, depending on the board.

Also there may be trim knobs on those channels. Sometimes people forget they exist. On an old mixer I once saw, you had to adjust trim on each channel with a little screwdriver because the function was performed by a trimpot mounted on a circuit board, rather than by a conventional panel-mounted potentiometer. Easy to miss.

Thanks for the replies. Think the attenuators is the answer.
