Merry Christmas to me.......Need cab advice

Sign in to disble this ad
6 month newbie bass player here...A few days ago I picked up a SVT 4 pro and a korg rack tuner in an SKB 4 space case...800 bones.....

Right now I'm using a RBI through a crown power amp into a harkte 410 at 400 watts....dont really want to hook up the 4 to the harkte

Now..i need a cab or some cabs....right now I'm thinking of a fridge, or an aggie GS412

Would it be better to get two cabs and run them for highs and lows off the amp? I bought the amp so I would have the option of doing this..

Its hard to make a decision....and find another grand plus!

Any advice would be a plus !

first off, no reason NOT to hook up the 410, and secondly, any bass cab or cabs you buy will be full range, so bi-amping would be a huge waste. Just hook up what you have and see how it sounds.

svt 4 pro smacks a fridge quite nicely, but even the mighty fridge can get tested with a 4 pro bridged if you turn it up insanely loud. but if you use only one side of it, you could plug in your hartke no problem.

If you are a newbie bass player then why do you want to get such expensive gear so fast. an svt 4 pro is a little much for 6 months of experience. your hartke would work just fine but if you really want to step up then get an 810, personally i dont like the tone of 412 bass cabs. i have an ampeg svt-810e and i love it

he could afford it. why not? way more than i ever had at the 6 month mark, or even the 6 year mark but can't blame a person for having money.

quality gear will hold it's value and can be sold to working guys....the market for starter stuff is limited and you usually take a big hit when you upgrade...if it was me i'd find one good cab for now,use both and upgrade the hartke later.....that way you don't get caught in a squeeze trying to buy/sell in a rush....

Ok.....the Hartke is not mine, its my buddies cab....I have been playing drums for about 24 years...been in numerous bands...I think my hearing has gone south in that time, so I need the biggest and the baddest so the neighbors can enjoy my music...just a little background on meself......

Now i just run an rbi through my crown through the hartke...

I went cheap on my first bass, a squier infinity p bass, just to see if I would stick to it...well I did...i can probably sell it for a hundred bucks....my second bass is a fricken sweet american made black jazz..............craigs.......now i need a rick !

I think next is the 810E.............i can get one for around 500 bucks on craigs, then I'm done.....except for more basses?

Ive used this site for all my research, it ****ing rocks...

Thanks for all the help ! Its all YOUR fault !

P.S. My stereo system is a 8 GB Zune hooked to a Yamaha 16 channel mixer through a crown XLS802 through 2 x Peavy SP-4's....the SP4's are dual 15" with a horn

Note: not married
