Mesa 215 Diesel and a LMII (Bad power match?)

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have been wanting to go old school lately and a Mesa 215 Diesel just came up on my local CL. From my understanding this cab is dripping with old school tone.

My current head is a LMII with at 4 ohms is 500watts. The cab is 800 watts at 4 ohms. (I know this the power issue has been hashed over and over here.)

So will this match up give me old school bliss or just suck?

Those 500 watts should sound sweet through a Boogie.

Those cabs have a great mid bump to them, and are very efficient.

as long as you like clean sounds since the lmii doesn't do dirt, i think it would rock. lmii's pretty tubey sounding for an ultra-clean ss head with no tubes in it.

The Mesa 215 Diesel is basically a TL606 "D" design. I built one 11 years ago, and have played it with many heads (currently the TC Elec. RH450). It is definitely one of the best rock cabs I've ever had the pleasure of playing through, regardless of amp.

I'm in the "go for it" camp!!

Here's mine:

I gave my answer in your other thread. just take note of the castors above. The boogie 2x15 is heavy.
