Hi guys, pretty new hear and this would be my first post. Ive learned so much from every one so thank you for this forum. I got to play the M3 Carbine and really loved it. I wanted to know some thoughts or opinions on the power house 2x10 cab. If i got this in a 4ohm version would it make a great stand alone cab? My other thought was two of the 1x12 power house cabs at 8ohms each. I play in small clubs and bars, and some times church. Again these cabs i mention would be used with the M3 carbine amp. Oh, and i mainly play a P-bass with round wound strings finger style. I also have a stingray for popping and slapping. I am coming from a 1x15 Peavy combo, so this is a whole new ball game of sound. I don't think i ever heard my bass guitar before i plugged into that M3! Thank you to any one who takes the time to reply, and again, great forum guy's thanks. |

I know it is tempting to want to get the most watts out of your M3 carbine! I would instead opt for the PH212 cab. The larger size of the drivers and the box make for a more fully realized standalone cab for about the same price.
Also it is pretty well known more speakers rather than more watts is the best way to acheive volume. An 8 ohm 4x10 wil blow a 4 ohm 2x10 out of the water with that amp, no problem.

| | | Thank you so much for the reply my friend. I had played the 4x10 and it did sound fantastic but i only weigh 135lbs so i was trying to find something mesa makes that i could lift by myself lol! Its kind of a bummer that two 1x12s cost more than the 2x12, because i can lift those no problem. I will look and see if the 2x12 is easier to pick up than the 4x10, again, thank you for the response and opinion. |

The Mesa 4x10 is about 100lbs the 2x12 is 78, the 2x10 is 70.
Have you checked out Aguilar cabs? Roughly the same price range.

The pair of 12's would be perfect, but also consider a Genz Benz Uber 212, at under 60 lbs, it sounds better than the Mesa cabs to my ears. I've owned several Powerhouse cabs, and while they were awesome, the Uber lives up to it's name.

| | | | Thanks for the response guys, i will check out that Uber cab for sure. I came across a lot of positive talk about the schroder 15+L and the bergantino ae212. Both sound like they would be easy to get around, any thoughts? Im not sure what other company's cabs would match up well with that amp, that's why i was thinking Mesa but there sure is a lot of choices out there that are a whole heck of a lot easier to get around. Off to check out the Uber! |

| | | Heather, get the 2x10 in 8 ohm. It is more than enough for what you are doing and they are special order on the 4 ohm anyway. You do not need the 2x12,they are as heavy as the 4x10. |

Off to check out the Uber! | Nice amp choice. I haven't tried an M3, but I could not be happier with my M6. Best sounding amp I have ever owned. While the PH210 should be able to handle everything the M3 will throw at it, I don't think I would get one as a stand alone 4ohm cab.
In my opinion I would either look for one large 4ohm cab, or two smaller 8ohm cabs. i.e. one 212, or 2 210's, 2 112's. The AE 212 you mentioned might be pretty cool with the M3. I don't own one, but have tried one several times and really like it. It puts out a mighty big sound and is nice and lite. You might check out the Aguilar cabs as well. The Mesa stuff is great, but none of it is lite. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
