Question Mesa BB750 vs M9 Carbine... Which one is killer?

Sign in to disble this ad
Today I went to local dealer. And they said they have M9 in their wharehouse. Before try them out, I want to get some feedbacks from those who have already tried them out.

Cabs available on store are....
2x10 PowerHouse™ Bass Cabinet
1x15 PowerHouse™ Bass Cabinet

Ampeg PN-210HLF
Ampeg PN-115HLF

Thanks

I've owned both, as discussed in your previous thread.

What are your tonal goals. Its the only way to know.

Both are killer heads, though very very different. For sheer "in your faceness", I'd have to say the carbines.

Of those two, I would go for the M9.

If you dig the vibe of the Big Block, I would track down a Titan. I know they are supposed to be the same, but the Titan sounded better to me with all the extra power.

The M9 is the way to go. It smokes the BB750 hands down.

I was in Bass central yesterday, and played the M9 thru a 1200 cabinet. 1st time Ive ever played thru that cabinet. It sounded ok, But I much prefer the sound of the 6x10 cabinets. so for me, 2 boogie 6x10's and an M9 are my choice. I also played a G&L Jazz bass and I must say, I was very impressed. It was much better than the Glaub Lakland they had that I was first playing. I think a G&L is now on my GAS list.

StingRay through an M9 is the most killer sounding rig around if you want something really aggressive and mean.

If you want either onboard killer distortion or a 2-channel setup the 750 will do ya. Unless those 2 features are must haves, however, the M9 will bury the 750 IMHO. I call the M9 my own private dragon :-))))))))))))))))

You won't need no SansAmp Bass Driver to open the M9 up.

I agree with JMATT. The M9 and a Stingray is truly unbelievable sounding. The stingray is so hot that it really drives the preamp on the M9. When I play a Stingray thru that head, I leave it on passive and the sound just kills! Its like a 12 inch diameter piano wire. I love that sound! So my list of things to get, M9, 2-6x10's, G&L Jazz, Stingray Stealth 4 string.

The Stingray and Carbine combo is my absolute favorite! You would be seriously degrading the signal path my having a sans amp bass driver inserted in that rig. You just don't need it. I think you will be impressed!

Well I am thinking about Ampage SVT 7pro as a back up head just incase my new M9 gone.
