Ha! I used to have the mesa cab you had.... The Mesa is an 8 ohm cab and your 410HLF was a 4 ohm cab. You will get a little less wattage out of this head into the Mesa, but the tone should be much better through the Mesa. More detail, beautiful midrange and nicer sounding bottom end. The bottom end on the 410hlf for me was too crazy, while this Mesa 410 will sound much more controlled (in a good way).
The dial on the back is too control how much high frequency content you want through the tweeter. The switch tells you where the speakers stop putting out high end and when the tweeter takes over. I used to set it at 3khz, so the tweeter took over in the 4khz an above range. I felt the cab sounded best this way since my pick playing tones were sharper sounding, easier to hear, and very clear. The tweeter can be very helpful in getting clarity out of your slapping lines. Play around with the crossover settings and see what the differences are.
If you put too much power into the tweeter, you can push that other small button up and get your tweeter working again. Make sure you decrease your high end content before turning it back on.
Mess around with the high end controls and see what happens. Keep in mind that a tweeter is very directional, if you stand to far left or right of it, you will not hear it as well.
