Hey guys, I have just bought myself a Mesa Boogie M9 Carbine head. I have done a bit of research and the 2 cabinets that i have heard great things about is the 6x10 and the 4x12. I was wandering what different sounds do they offer and what would be the best one for my sound (play in a metal band but also like to play a bit of jazz and funk). Any feedback would be appreciated.
Also I play a Rickenbacker 4003, if that helps. Cheers. |

The 4x12 was driven by the M6, the 8x10 driven by the M9. I had the EQ the same, and the 4x12 sounded FAR better. A lot fuller, and the bass was deep. Not sure how it sounds in the mix, but everyone seems to have many good things to say about the 4x12.
I think the PH 12" cabs are the perfect match for the Carbine series. |

| | | | I own the PH 412 and although its big, its the single best sounding cabinet I have ever played through. I have other cabs but nothing sounds as balanced and sweet as this one. You cant go wrong with pretty much any Mesa product in my opinion but my M9/PH412 combo is one big load of "WIN" !!!

| | | | Many bass players love the 210/115 setup but there are some issues with mixing speaker sizes that may or may not bother you. I owned an Eden 210/115 setup for years and was never quite happy until I replaced the 115 with another 210. I later bought Mesa 115 and have since paired it with another 115 and the difference between one and two identical cabs is staggering. They sound like you just added 4 times as many speakers when paired up. Once I got used to hearing matched pairs of cabs, I was never satisfied with any combo of mixed cabs as the tone is just not as consistent to my ears.
