Hello. I recently got a Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine rack head. It sounds amazing and it's louder than just about anything ought to be, but it has an annoying problem that I am looking for a solution to.
The fuse at the back shakes itself loose after a few minutes when the head is mounted on top of a pair of cabs and driven reasonably loud (that's about "1" on the master dial). Pushing it back in brings it back to life (the fuse doesn't actually blow, it just comes loose).
A call to Mesa Boogie support informed me that it's not a common problem. I wonder if any other M6 users have seen this and if so how did you solve it ?
Thanks |

I am hoping the solution is simple enough that I don't have to go that route - I'd rather avoid driving 50 miles to a Guitar Center and then putting my fate in their hands for as long as it takes to sort it out.
Of course, if anyone else had the same problem and could only solve it by going the warranty route then I'll have to give in. But I'm hopeful that there's a DIY fix. |

This is not a DIY thing as you doing the swap will probably void your warranty. There are so many different types out there but if it is a screw in a dab of nail varnish with hold it. Twist lock you could try bending the lock tabs a little to tighten them up.

Also, I have never heard this issue before specifically with the M6, and have not experienced that with mine either. But sometimes you just get a bad component that doesn't reveal itself during QC. |

Make the drive in the meantime try some silicone it will easily remove when you go to have it fixed.

But I was leaning over and looking at it upside down. Just the same it does seem to take a pretty good twist to seat it fully.
You might also pick up a 1/2" piece of foam to stick between the amp and the cabinet. Kinda like the Gramma pad.

I found (by reading the owners manuals) that the fuse cap holder Mesa uses is the same part on many different models. So I grabbed one off another Mesa amp I own (after making sure the part number was the same) and swapped it with the cap on the Carbine. The Carbine has been solid for a few weeks (even at loud volumes, when sitting on top of two cabs).
So I called Mesa Boogie support and informed them of this. A nice guy there said he'd put a new fuse cap in the mail for me free of charge. Just waiting for it to arrive now, but I think this problem is solved.
