Boogie will have higher resale..

Unsure of the side by side sound characteristics.. the Peavey will be engineered around a band mix.. and may not intially sound as good played alone.

If that was the Peavey with Black Widows. I'd go with that, but I don't think it is (lack of the silver dust caps).

True the Mesa will have higher resale value, but seeing that Peavey won't be bought new, it'll be dirt cheap

I would probably go with the Mesa cab but let your ears be the judge, if possible.

Definitely Mesa/Boogie, but if you do choose the Peavey, let me have a go at the Mesa!

Mesa and hopefully the Mesa cab has the original EV speakers! 800 watts RMS in that cabinet! They are bears to move, but sound beautiful...my favorite 2x15 ever!

I'm wondering how many people have actually played one of the older Peavey 2x15s, and how many are going by names . . .

I used to have a peavey 215, looked just like the one pictured, but not as clean. It was an okay cab. I put some foam inside the cab, which tightened the bass up. It kind of had a growl sound to it, hard to explain. I ran it with my Nemesis 410 combo at the time. I think I sold it for around $150, so $350 seems really high.

I would go with the Mesa, just since I was not all that impressed with the peavey cab.

I used to own an older Peavey 2x15 with BW's and I had the Mesa Diesel 2x15. I liked the look of the Peavey more, but the sound of the Mesa was more for my ears.

I owned the Peavey 2X15 as well... i was not impressed with it at all.... it couldnt handle the watts IMO, at the time I had a backline 600 and it would make the cab fart out. I bought it for $100 cleaned it up and sold it for $100 two weeks later.

Neither one stinks. I'd go with the one that delivers what your looking for in a 2x15.
I am a huge Peavey fan as far as their old 2x15's go, but Mesa rocks without question.

I played many Peavey rigs in the 80's and they were indestructable. Very loud but I would go with the Boogie tone. I have Mesa RoadReady now and you can feel it more, if that makes sense. Good air movers but they are called "fridges" for a reason. And you can usually pick off a Peavey on the C-list for about $150. Check the Mesa for the speakers, if org., not a bad price. Playing them both is a big plus, your ear will know.

Been playing over 30 years, and have owned many Peavey cabs including a 2X15.

Peavey makes great stuff, but it is not even in the same league as Mesa.

And 350 is way to high for that Peavey.

I have the Mesa, my friend has a blackwidow 215, his is fairly homebrewed but I prefer the sound of mine. Weight on the other hand... Road ready is synonymous with "get a forklift"

Moving mine around a flat, semi level floor on it's 2" casters is akin to an epileptic on a skateboard in the back of a pickup truck cruising down the Las Vegas strip.

I missed the prices, whoever thinks they'll get 350 for that peavey is having a laugh. You could pick up the model with better speakers for less than half that.

Fair enough on the comparisons. I've played through a lot of 2x15s, none have compared to the tone of the Peavey, blows the rest of them (which were all much more expensive) out the water IMO.

Home brew is not a relevant comparison.

(coming from a guy with widow equipped home brews)_
