Mesa Boogie Titan Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking at used Titan amps, and I was wondering if there is any difference, agewise or otherwise, between the silver faced or black faced amps. Do they offer both, or is one older, or did they stop making one type at some point, etc. I'm just trying to see if there is any difference between the two if I am chosing between them. Thanks

Silver is older... no functional difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe the newer models included an extra internal cooling fan.
I don't know as I have an older model.
My advice to you is : GET IT! they are an amazing amplifier!

updates

There are updates that need to be done to the silverfaces,
I just got mine back from Mesa. It was overheating and shutting down. All is well now, running cool.

edit: I'm not sure if all the silverfaces need updates, but mine did.

Krug has my old one and I ran it for 4-5 hours at relatively high volumes for my cover gigs and never had a heating issue or shutdown. We would trip the circuit breakers before it pulled too much juice to shut off....

Thanks. Does anyone know when they started putting in the extra cooling fan. I am looking at one that is about 1 1/2 years old, but it is the silverface model.
