Yup, for small venues I've been using my PH212. To me that's a "small" cab.

i am thinking of buying a ph 112 at 8 ohm for the small stuff, not sure if it is not enough though. size matters at this point.

but i have a 412 at 4 ohm for the big venues.

ps: i have my amp at mesa for a fix. lets see how it goes for me.

Used my Titan for an outdoor gig last night -90 degrees F ...had it out of the rackcase ...powering my Genz Uber 410 and Earcandy BassBomb 212 Cab for a 2 ohm load...it never winced for 4 hours...sounded awesome way out to the parking lot I was told without PA support...Peace...DAcat

I have just started using (3 weeks) a Titan V12 and have not taken it out of the studio to gig with yet. So far I like what I am hearing out of it (I am running it with an Avatar TB153 and an Avatar B412 at 2ohms) I have a question...
What are the "problems" with this amp? I was in the local tech shop having one of my old bassman amps retubed and the guy started telling me there was a world of "problems" with the Titan.
I am bummed - 'cause I like this rig.
Over...

I could be wrong, but I do believe it depends on which Titan u have...The silver faced one would be the original that doesnt have the upgrades(2nd fan, extra venting, etc, ) and the black one should have all the upgrades already and not have the "classic" Titan problems...I had a silver one, and sent it back 3 times, they did all the upgrades, and it still wasnt fixed...then they sent me a m9 carbine to replace it. Titan was a great amp I just got the lemon of the bunch I am guessing.

Thanks for the reply

I have a silver face mounted in the Black Tolex case. Not sure when it was built but I know it has been at my local music store for at least a year and a half -

Pictured here-
Again- I really like the versatility of this amp but I need to know about reliability --

I found Mesa tech support second to none. If u want to know if it's had all the upgrades u can call Mesa and give them ur serial number and they could look it up for u.

I stuffed mine with some vintage GE tubes in the V1 and both overdrive sockets. I love how it warmed the mids a little more, but I left a JJ in the driver socket as -so far- it sounded like the best biting tone in the driver.
My only complaint with the Mesa or JJ tubes (same thing) in the overdrive section was the added bassyness when kicking on the o/d. The vintage GE tunes smoothed all that out.

one other question---
Does any one run the amp on 2ohms?
The Mesa tech told me they run really hot but I figure there is a reason there is a toggle switch to get that load

I am about to buy a Titan locally. It is a black faced model, but apparently it is an earlier one, as Mesa said they have no record of it having the cooling updates done....

I will be running it at 4 ohms. Should I be concerned about it overheating, and send it in to have the updates done? Or are they generally ok without them?

Running at 4 ohms should be perfectly fine. One of my favourite Mesa heads to date.

You chose an interesting place to ask for unbiased opinions. :P

Thanks! I will send it in to Mesa if it is the general consensus that it should be done. But if everyone says I should be ok running it at 4 ohms (can't ever see myself running it at 2 ohms), then I won't bother with it.

Well, I have it at my house now, and holy crap, does this thing sound amazing!! I have spent the last hour trying all 3 of my Roscoes through it, and it seems to pair well with all 3 of them.

Looking forward to tomorrow at rehearsal, so I can use it in a full band setting (my Eden rig is there, so I'll get a chance to compare the Mesa to the Eden then, too).

I got to really put it through its paces today at rehearsal, and it really impressed me. It has that "heft" to every note, almost like the DB750 I owned. Sounded huge, yet very clear and articulate. Very happy so far......

I have run miTitan with two 4 ohm cabs, thus a total ohm load of 2 ohms for many gigs, and only had a problem of the amp shutting down temporarily once when it was in a 4 space rack ...not much room to breath so I have never kept the amp so Kooped up since when running at 2 ohms...Peace...DAcat
