Walkabout = Beano (for amp GAS).

With all the new amps coming out, I start lusting for them. Then I remember that I have a Walkabout and move onto something else.

It really did; I sold those cabs though.
And the head.

And then bought another head.

I'm dumb like that.

That L1000 is a 1980: first year; mahogany/ebony.
More or less "the holy grail" for that model....

OM gosh, I've been begging for one for years.
I wish.

I would literally sell everything else I have if they did.

*done!*

Speaking of knobs, the black face amps with the J bass style knobs will not work on the silver face amps. In fact I couldn't find any knobs that I liked that would fit due to the shortish pot shaft exposure.
I carefully put a drop of flourescent orange paint on the tiny little indentations so that one could actually SEE the stupid settings.

Hey guys - what other Mesa head sounds the closest to the Walkabout but with more power? Looking for something to with more power/headroom, but the same overall tone.

Thanks!

EDIT - or better question, major differences between the Mpulse 600 and 750 Big Block ?

I changed to Kilo knobs, mainly because they give (IMO) better indication on the WA face and I wanted an aluminum knob like the previous WAs came with. That said, I may try a black version of this knob at some point.

And definitely, I have found this amp to be much more P than J voiced, though I confess I'm still pretty new to semi-para EQs.

Everytime I flip the power switch on this amp I can't help but smile.
