Anyone know if Mesa will re-cover a used Walkabout Scout in one of the non-standard colorways? If so, anyone know how much it will cost? I looked for an email address for Mesa, but all I found was phone numbers. School 8-5, hard to find time to call them, etc...

Thanks!

You should ask, but I sincerely doubt they will strip and recover.

Yeah. I would maybe see if they have the materials to do so...

Alternatively, how much would one of the custom finished ones cost? MSRP + custom upcharge? $1500+?? sounds a little too pricey if I can't make this a DIY!

The guy I bought my Scout rig from recovered it himself with wine Taurus himself.

I'm assuming he bought the material from Mesa, but I'm not sure--I can ask him, if you like.

I just sent him a PM on your behalf; he was a really cool guy to deal with, so I'm sure he'll get back to you.

thanks for putting us in touch man! I look forward to corresponding with him.

The Walkabout in cocoa/tan would be oh so sweet.

I think it would be a nice upgrade to my Acoustic practice amp (which does pretty darn well for itself)!

There was a thread where a guy had his old rat fur HT112 Bergantinos recover by a shop local to him. They looked absolutely killer. I think that it was in the Bergantino V3 thread. If mine wasn't in perfect condition I would look into something like that. Heck, shipping to and from Petaluma, at least for me, would be something like $50-60 each way.

I had my IP112ER's refinished in Duratex, very close to (if not the same stuff) that Jim uses on the discontinued AE and now the HD line of cabs. That was easy enough. I've never applied tolex or a non-spray finish before, so it might be a bit of an adventure.

Only thing about the Walkabout Scout that I don't dig is the esthetics...

The original post said it is green alligator....but I thought that the same kinda scheme would look great on a Scout.

not challenging you at all, but I'm curious about what exactly you don't like about the aesthetics of the Walkabout - the standard covering, the material, the color ?

since muthafunk did that grill swap with Aladinsane1969, I now am bumming that I did not jump on the swap option myself. I usually do not care too much about cab aesthetics, but geez, that black cab with the tan grill looks go-ood !

I wonder if you can just buy grills from Mesa ?? anyone know ? I know an artist rep up there in Petaluma, maybe I need to give him a call and see whats up with WA grills.

enjoy!

I'm sure you can order grilles. I know handles, corners (both in tan or black) can be ordered as well.
