Nothing, nada, squat; 1 million discussions and those of us are still longing for a 500 watt WA.
Closest I've found is an SVT but no one seems to agree that any amp is THAT close.

Especially an amp that's been in production this long. Most other companies would have phased the Walkabout out a long time ago.

Thanks!

EDIT - or better question, major differences between the Mpulse 600 and 750 Big Block ?
I've never A/B compared them, but the Big Block and the Titan are both supposed to be in the same tonal realm as the Walkabout (the M-Pulse 600 oddly enough doesn't really sound the same at all in my experience). People that have owned both the Big Block and Walkabout have said that the noticeable change in headroom between those two amps is fairly minimal, so the Titan is your best bet as far as existing amps with noticeably more headroom (though it is large, heavy, and also recently discontinued!).

Titan V12 is supposed to have a very similar linkage between the multi 12AX7 tube pre and a tube driving the mosfets, which is what the Walkabout design does.
I think the BigBlock 750 is close too, but with a bit more "grindy" in its tone than the WA.

Not sure why the MPulse600 design is not like this, or if it is, why it does not sound like a 600w WA, but it does not, as I have tried it without any WA joy.

good luck. and welcome to the WA Mega Thread pt.7 too cool

You know, I always play my Sadowsky PJ in active mode. However, the other day I played in Passive P mode and it was kickin through my WA Scout 12!

Yep. For me, it is "the" tone. Just awesome.

For the last year, I've been playing a Sadowsky thru my Walkabout. Last week I picked up a passive Mike Lull P bass and used it at practice yesterday.

Great tone has never been so easy to get!

I've got a pile of older Fender basses as well as 2 Stingrays.
I find that any of these basses can sound just OK through some amps, yet the WA works very well with them all.
Have had similar experiences with say drums and different recording consoles; some are good for a particular sound but only a few work great for all types of projects.

You're not dreaming nearly big enough

While I'd take a 600 watt Walkabout,
I'd sell my neighbors kids kidneys for a Walkabout 900.

Seriously:
it's time.

Where's the retort to the Streamliner 900?

We *need* a 2 ohm stable Walkabout 9.

I truly believe - at least in my case and in IMO/IME - that one of the big attributes to the WA tone as I know it, arises from me pushing it incredibly hard on gigs that often need more wattage than it can provide - even at 2 ohms. It just loves to be thrashed!! It is also one of the most tonally responsive bass amps to dynamics I've had the pleasure to play through, and without question, more than any other SS or hybrid amp in that regard. I think the Titan was the closest family member to the WA, but because of the huge reserves of power, it just didn't quite "do it" in the same way. Be careful what you ask for... you might not like it!

Oh, I would.
I don't want any of the overdrive-y stuff.

Just the big fat plush articulate mix crushing stuff.

so it has been awhile since i last had a chance to jam and i brought my trusty WA combo to the jam. two guitarists, me and a drummer. since then, i have acquired three more basses and was anxious to try them out.
the WA slayed as per usual.

Wow! Over 7000 replies to the Walkabout. It's a fine amp that my 34" P based FBass loves! Start of Part 7 mandatory pic:
