I think it's do-able with an efficient cab, if the band aren't too loud.

You can definitely get a vintage tone out of a NeoX-212T.

Walkabout DI>>>GK MB800 as slave

Fail. Period. It sounds fine, but not better than the GK alone. Then I hook the WA to my LDS 12/6 on it's own, and the magic liquid warmth blooms in spades, even at low volume. I don't really understand why, since the DI is post everything and the master volume affects DI volume , but at least I've heard it for myself/ got it out of my system.

Is there anyone here who does not like the WA with the Scout 12? I have been thinking about getting the 4 ohm combo cab for a small apeaker solution but it's a bit pricey.

Me.

It does what it does well, but, it's not my flavor.

I love the tone of that box, but there's no point in getting a 4Ohm since 165 watts is a little more than even an 8 Ohm Scout 12 cab can handle-so you might as well order an 8 Ohm and have more flexibility in adding another cab if you like.

IMO; the Scout is a deep little cab, with nice enough mids, and not a ton of top end.
I've never owned a 'player control network' version;' so, they may be better.

It's not a terribly loud box, and it's not terribly light.

I started out with one 12, added another, changed the bottom box to a 15, and then moved on to smaller, lighter stuff that suited me better.

For a long time I ran two LDS 2x8's stacked vertical.

Currently, I use two GK112Neo stacked vertical, or two GK 212Neo stacked real big.

I love the Scout flavor. Big down low, nice fat low mids and very warm and smooth.

FWIW IMO the player control network doesn't change it all that much. I describe the scout cabs as big on rump with muted top, old school style, and tuned very deeply compared to competing 12s or 15s

IMO: great with a P bass for vintage-y.
IMO: not great with a J bass for more modern-y.

This is fine.

The Walkabout head+J-bass+different cabs works fine for me.
