I was able to take a look at the back of the head as well, it looks like the FX loop bypass was added...so I'm thinking mine is pretty much "up to date" with all the mods. Tonight I'm going to open up the head case to take a look at the fan & tubes as well. I was told they are stock Mesa tubes, but I want the personal verification.

I have not spent much time with the BB750. |

| | Big and fat. So is my sound. Endorsing Artist: Dean Markley | | Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Montreal, Canada | | | A friend just offered me a 2-year old Walkabout head for $500. From everything I've read here, it seems like a no-brainer. My usual setup is a Genz Shuttlemax 9.2 with a Neox 212... but the Walkabout is tempting for the DB gigs with the Aguilar DB112 I'm waiting on.
My guess is, if I didn't like the head, I could easily flip it. He's giving me 'till Sunday to decide. Jump on it?

| | Fingers On Flats | | Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. | | | Walkabout Scout 12" & 15" Had my 1st opportunity today to play the 2 Scouts side by side. (I have an early 12" 8ohm scout) Thought you guys might like to see a couple pics.
I was really kind of taken by the amount of increased output of the 15" (same settings on both heads). It's something I hadn't noticed much in the past because there was no immediate comparison at hand. I still won't trade my 12" but the 15" is very impressive! The extra size of the passive radiator sure works well w/it. The 15" has more of everything. One would expect the detail to fall off somewhat w/a 15" cab but this puppy's driver has presence to burn, & that's with the crossover @5k. And talk about push. These were both 4ohm cabs.
Another thing I noticed was a slight natural compression of the 12" compared to the 15". Again - rather expected w/ the output variance but maybe someone else could chime in about that. I switched floor places of the combos (L.-R. - no appreciable difference in tone when moving the same combo). That 15" is no lunchpail to move around!
I like the venting on the back panel of the 15" (see pic)
I couldn't crank these things up at the time in the store so that's a consideration when appraising, but it was a treat just the same.

This one shows the relative size of speakers.

The dragabout 15 is considerably louder and won't compress nearly as easily as the 12. IMO the 15 is more practical as an ext cab than a combo, and brings a whole 'nother level of thump to the table.

I knew about the vented top Walkabout panel but this is the first I've seen the open Scout cover. This makes a lot of sense. The vented panel is no good in the combo unless the Scout cover is also open. I'll be giving Mesa a call on Monday.
