Mesa Buster 200 fuse question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, TBers! I recently purchased a Mesa Buster 200W tubed 2x10 combo. I'm in love with it. However, one day at practice, the fuse blew. In the owners manual it states that it needs a 6.25amp 117V Slo-Blo fuse. So I thought, no problem! As it turns out... I can't find that fuse ANYWHERE! All of the 6.25amp Slo-Blo fuses i've come across were 200V, not the needed 117V. I've literally checked different stores around here, TV repair shops, the interwebs... nothing.

So my question is, would using the 200V fuse as opposed to the 117V fuse be a terrible idea? I'm just not too familiar with electronics, so I thought I would check with the more advanced before just blindly doing it and possible ruining a great amp.

The voltage rating is the voltage that the fuse will safely interrupt. So the higher the better. Most fuses you buy will probably be 250V. Perfectly safe to use.

When you replace the fuse, if it blows again don't keep replacing it 'cos it's tech time.

Andy, before you try the new fuse: One real easy thing you could check yourself is to make sure all your tubes are fully pushed into they're sockets. If any of the powertubes have rattled half way out it can cause the fuse to blow.
