Mesa Diesel Cab Caster Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there, just picked up an old Mesa Diesel 1x15 cab, and I'd like to buy some casters for it. The only problem is that I don't know the size.

I've searched here, and haven't really come up with anything definite. These cabs are so old that Mesa doesn't even have the spec anymore.

This cab takes stem casters, not the newer slide-loc ones.

So, does anyone know what will work?

Thanks!

I think they used the old 2 inch ones, but I much prefer the slide-loc ones, as the stem ones seem to go loose after a while.

Buy the new slide lok set, and install those. You'll be glad you did. OR, use a small hand cart to move it, (that's what I do).

I've bought the stem type replacement casters at the local hardware store, they're pretty common.

OR, when I finally wore the sockets out, I bought a full set of new Ernie Ball sockets and casters for $22 bucks per set at Guitar Center.
I thought about the Mesa slide locks but I just couldn't justify the price for both my cabs.

I like the convenience of the casters but much prefer the tone of the cab sitting on the floor. You may want to buy a little folding hand dolly instead.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I've been thinking of getting a bigger cart, and maybe I'll just go that route. Then again, there is something appealing about just rolling the darned thing around on it's own. I'll follow up on this post when I figure it out.
