Mesa M6 cutout? overheating?

Sign in to disble this ad
Last night my band was playing a gig and after only 1/2 hour my amp decided to not play through my cab any longer. I was plugged into the p.a. through the direct out and that still worked. Today the amp turns on but, no sound whatsoever.

It's not even 6 months old. I've rack mounted the head with a Samson power conditioner. The input meter is registering power in but, the output meter isn't registering anything.

Any thoughts please?

I'm new to the forum and would love some feedback.

Lou

You are not using an "instrument" cable to connect to your speaker cab are you?
Does the M6 have a mute switch?

I'm using a Speakon cable. I thought it might be bad and used a speaker cable today. Nothing happened unfortunately. It has a mute switch incorporated into the master volume control. It's a push-pull switch and wasn't touched.

Tried a patch cord from effects send to effects return yet?

Actually I was plugged straight into the amp. I had no effects at all. That's why it's so troubling. I'm going to call CA tomorrow and hopefully they'll know what's going on. I just hate when problems arise...especially on stage. Ugh!!

I don't think that's what he meant. Sometimes the effects normalizing jack can become stuck/corroded and make the sound get fuzzy or cut out completely. While playing, try running a patch from the effects send directly to the return.

Yeah, just a short jumper from the IN to the OUT. Sometimes that's all it takes. Otherwise, off for warranty repair.
