Mesa M9 ohm questions

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 4 ohm Acme B2 and a 8 ohm B2. If I use both with the M9 do I use the 4 ohm setting or should I change it to 2 ohm setting? I think the ohmage with the two cabs will be 2.67 ??

Thanks

Use the 2ohm setting.

Put the 4Ω B2 on the top of the stack so you can hear it better. It will be taking twice the power of the 8Ω unit.

I am looking forward to hooking my incoming M9 (thanks, SeismicAssault) to a 4 ohm epifani UL1 410 and an 8 ohm epifani UL1 210. In this case, each of the 6 drivers recieves equal power, even though the 210 has more cabinet volume per driver, and therefore a big more timbral girth.

Having run these cabs on my 2 ohm capable CA-6, I would assume 2 ohms would be the correct setting on the Carbine.

Why? if the amp is made to run at that resistance I see no problem in using it.

Why?? The amp was designed to work into a two ohm load with the switch in the 2Ω position. As running the cabs you have with the 4Ω setting will damage your amp, I don't see that you have much choice! You are also not running the amp at 2Ω you are running the amp at 2.67Ω.
