| Mesa Nomad 100 through an Ampeg SVT-210AV?

I am new to the world of bass and having been a guitar player for roughly 8 years now I was looking to see if I could save some money by doubling up on gear. I was wondering what kind of sound I could expect from running one of these Ampeg 210AV cabs from my mesa boogie nomad 100?
It's got 100W of tube power which is enough for me in my apartment, recording. But I want to make sure I could get the same kind of lows and harmonics playing through a kickass (my opinion) guitar amp like the nomad, even though it is built for guitars.
Any thoughts? Should I abandon the idea and put the $300 towards a true bass amp/combo?
I've been reading great things from people plugging one or two of these cabs into a mesa walkabout but didn't know how different the tubes/circuitry would be for a mesa guitar product, and if similiar results can be assumed. |
