Mesa PH412 Crossover question

I recently picked up a PH412 (from anither TB'er as it so happens) and i am curious about how the crossover works on these cabs. does the switch on the back (3k, 4k, 5k) determine at which point the signal is split off to the tweeter? and if so why dont i hear a difference with the tweeter at min? i would expect that the tone coming from the speakers would also change depending on where the switch is set. for example crossover at 5k would result in more highs coming through the speakers than when it is set at 3k.

Not necessarily..............

Many bass speakers run out of "working room" long before the horns lower range, and leaves a hole in the frequnecy response. That is why the newer "super cabs" also have a dedicated mid driver.

As for the player control - Yes, they are cut off points for where the horn kicks in.

so what you are saying is that the crossover points are kind of higher than the effective frequency range of the speakers...ok that makes sense.

yeah, i think (like with most bass cabs) the crossover is just for the horn, while the speakers always get the full-range signal.

Very likely so, as doing it with switching on the woofer side would be needlessly expensive and complicated.
