Rugged and in my testing experience, was absolutely awesome powered by a GK700RB-II head. The amount of bass flavored "wind" generated by that cab is impressive. Try one with a powerful head and you'll see what i mean.
Downside is it's price and weight compared to GK Neo 212-II.
Know next to nothing about the NeoX genz-benz 212 but I'm sure it's also an amazing cab based on discussions over the last year or so in particular...just real pricey.

I've demo'd a lot of them and the last one I used extensively (a PH1200) really left me longing for my Uber 410, as it hate did not handle the low-C and did not cut nearly as well.
That said, I really dig the "modern bite" that a lot of the Genz cabs have, so I could certianly be biased by my own tonal preferences. I know that my NEOX-212T cabs have not lacked balls in any fashion and enjoy being fed some power. I've used mine in a hard rock context for years and never had any problems with punch or rumble when I wanted them.
Kinda harsh on the Mesa, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it Some people make them sound great, but I'm not one of those people.

The PH212 has a more rich, lush, smooth and inviting high end. The GB sounds a little thin in the highs by comparison. The low end is very solid on both of them, though the NeoX-212T has a slight edge in the low-mids. Speaking of the midrange, my notes for the Mesa/Boogie read, "warm with a touch of roundness," whereas the notes for the Genz-Benz read, "punchy and warm with a touch of fuzziness." Both cabs are very slightly "dark" when compared to some other 2x12's I had on hand (GK, Glock, Genz-Benz Uber212), though not as dark as the Epifani T-212D.
Hope this helps, Tom. |

And once it's on the ground the 3" casters absolutely make moving it easy as pie. My 5 year old daughter could roll it around, even on carpet. I can't comment on the sound of the two, I've only owned the Mesa. But I have no complaints about the sound or low end. In fact, I usually end up dialing the bass knob back on my Titan, particularly when really driving the cab, as it pushed a lot of low end. I only play 4's so I cannot comment on low B. |

It can cover a lot of ground depending on your eq settings. The Mesa (as I recall) seems to me like it's tuned to give a deeper low end from the get go, which may or may not be your cup of tea. |

| | | | well i play thrash(duh), prog rock, classic rock, punk. i do enjoy a slight to very overdriven tone and from what im gathering the mesa will lean more towards this end. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
