Mesa Titan V12 at 2ohms?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anybody running a Titan at 2 ohms? It's probably not ideal since the Titan is 1200 watts @ 4 ohms & 840 watts @ 2 ohms. I think I read somewhere that Mesa cut the power @ 2 ohms due to the large amount of current it would drawl and possibly trip a breaker. Unfortunately, I have to run two 4 ohm cabs to keep up with a Marshal stack and a loud drummer miced. Plan B is two buy Two 8 ohm cabs or one 412 4 ohm cab. Not looking forward to hauling that heavy a cab or the expense of buying new cab(s). Any thoughts?

When I bought my DB750 / GS412 rig I also tried the V12 into a Powerhouse 412... it was mighty!

I ended up prefering the Ag gear but the above is the way "I" would go if I were you - 1200w @4 ohms!

The larger tilt and roll cabs are pretty easy to move btw.

If you're looking for more volume, go for more speaker area over more wattage. You won't even notice 840W versus 1200W...

Mesa 412...I can't imagine needing to be louder than a Titan into a 412.

The Titan + PH412 destorys all in it's path. I maxed my ex-Titan out at maybe 10:30 one time and that was in a very large venue and the sound guy was still getting mad! I still tripped breakers in smaller venues often!

840 watts will be plenty. Plan A sounds fine. Just make sure to put the switch in the 2 ohm position!
