Mesa Walkabout Scout and a 4X10??

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Mesa Walkabout amp and I'd like to get a 4X10 cabinet for bigger venues. I wanted to know if anyone else uses their Walkabout head with bigger cabs and does it seem to work well? I realize it's 300 watts and I am interested in getting a 4X10 to use with it. I completely dig the tone from this head. Thanks.

Marty

I use my Walkabout with my Eden 4x10 regularly for outdoor gigs. Excellent rig. 4 10's really let the deep lows this amp produces come through nice and tight.

edited for the correct use of the term Walkabout/Scout

I use mine with Bergantino HS410. Works great. The wide low end of the WA complements the tight bottom of the berg.

I also tried it with the 8 ohm 1x15 on the bottom of the 410 with total 2,6 ohm or something and it was massive!

On the front of the Walkabout I use EBS Multicomp. Probably worth mentioning that I have gain on the Multicomp set more than unity gain, so it sends quite hot signal to the Walkabout. Still not distorting the tubes, though.

With five-piece band and HS410 I was never over the noon at the master volume, usually at about 10-11 o'clock, with WA gain at 11.

Just for the record, the Scout is the 12" (or 15") cab that houses the Walkabout in it's combo form. Otherwise, it's just a Walkabout, and it will thunder through a larger cab. I just wouldn't match up a Scout with a mismatched larger cab.

Thx, your absolutely correct. I really like the Scout cab with the Walkabout, it's an amazing combination together. I'd just like to mate the Walkabout with a larger cab and wasn't sure if anyone else is doing it. The walkabout is just flat easy to use and sounds so damn good.

That's a great looking rig you got there, what kind of bass is that?

Moon JJ4, custom from mid 90's - flame maple top, ash body, ebony board on maple neck, moon pups, passive. Great basses.
