Just for fun and out of curiosity I searched the Musicians Friend website to see witch bass speaker was rated the highest by MF customers and the MF customers rated the “ Ampeg SVT-410HLF Classic Series Bass Cabinet” #1.

Interesting.

It was my favorite out of the three Ampeg cabs that I owned.

I have never known a cabinet with more power...to polarize a group of musicians.

It shows how many people like the smiley face tone.... I had two of them and glad I do not any more. That extra low end is useless on stage. To each their own.

Yep...I've played the 4X10 many, MANY times and while it's a nice cab, my "personal" preference in the HLF line is the 6X10. That's just MY opinion, however.

I always found the 4X10 to be a pain in the a$$ to move around because of the smaller size........

I would agree. All of that low end just makes me feel like I am drowning.

Same here - I would definitely buy another...

I definitely wouldn't buy another SVT-610HLF, nor an SVT-410HE, and would only consider another SVT810e if it were a killer deal...

That's a matter of taste, opinion, and situation - it works for me, and I've probably played a fair amount more gigs than you have...

I wouldn't buy any SVT series cabs besides a vintage flatback like I am tomorrow. I wasn't the biggest fan of the 810 or 610HLF.

That said, I'm enjoying the PF115HE so far. I'll reserve my judgement for when the second cab arrives.

I still have a HE. My favorite . Needs recovering though. Only 200W. The other 4x10s I have are what I use. Wish I could find another '01 HE. Just put the SVT 18E on eBay. Enuf w the bi amp stuff.

I have an 810e, PR410-HLF and a 410HLN (basically an HLF with speakons and a higher power rating). I gig with the 410HLN 5-1 over the others. Always gets compliments. However- I'm building afEARful 1212/6/1. That should be quite a change, but I'm looking forward to it.

My cab is the SVT 410HLF. It is American made dated 2006. I love it. I play mostly 5 string basses and the cab really delivers my B strings very well. I play with a good deal of mid-range with the bass slightly bumped and treble set flat. I have the cab matched with an American SVT 3 PRO also a 2006. I plan on getting another 410HLF and putting both with an American 2 PRO. IMHO I really feel that it is one of the best 410's on the market and never plan on selling it. I wish it was easier to move around though. I have cerebral palsy and it makes for quite a long and difficult day moving it around. Anyway, great cab. I agree with the statement from MF very much.

Respect to you for not letting CP slow you down from putting together an awesome but rather heavy rig.

I've just done some shows in Australia first set of gigs I had a orange tiny terror thru a a beaten up old 810e verdict good, next shows thru svt 7 thru a new 810e only ok,& last but not least a 1970s accoustic thru a 410hlf it absolutely ruled ! Verdict nothin to do with the amps or speakers it was the venues that made my bass tone suck/ rule! I normally use a roadworn 57 thru a svt cl 410hlf setup which with the midrange sounding 57 is perfect though my over rosewood basses it does get a little boomy though...

It is not a cabinet for every kind of player as it has more deep bass output than many like, is a bit scooped in the mids and on the big side for a 410.
However, for a somewhat clean, loud, deep and modern sound and propelled by enough amp, this speaker is hard to beat, IMHO. Especially for the price.
I have previously used several own EBS cabinets (both regular and neos), Warwicks, Ampeg SVT-410HE etc and was not really happy with any setup I had until I bought two SVT-410HLF. For most scenarios, one is enough but there can be the occasional outdoor gig without PA support.

And I really like how well Ampeg's support handled my questions before purchase!

I loved this cabinet with a bridged SWR SM500. Playing with two guitarists with high gain distortion, the extra bass output allowed me to FEEL myself play when I couldn't always clearly HEAR myself........another cab that was somewhat comparable to this was the genz benz 4x10xb2 I had........ah........ memories of gear long gone!

Thats the bedroom tone. Sounds killer in YouTube videos, vanishes in a band mix.
