Micro amp advise!

Hi!
im looking to buy a new bass head and im thinking btw the GB Streamliner 600,900 and the RH750 or MarkBass Big Bang..
my cab is GK 212MBE 600 watt, and im playing mostly slap and jazz and blues, i dont like so much to play with the amp settings, so im looking for the best sounding amp for my style in flat settings!
What do you think??

First of all don't let the simplistic design of the STM-600/900 fool you. It isn't as easy as you think to just set it flat and BAM there's your sound.

I have no experience with the other choices.

Why not consider the Shuttle series of Genz Benz?

The streamliner may only have a few knobs, but they do take some understanding to get them dialed in. I also think the cab choice really matters with the inherent voicing of the streamliner.

I would also add the Tonehammer 500 to your list. If I was picking up a micro it would be my top pick.

Markbass all the way...maybe I'm just partial. I think they have some serious bang for the buck and their tone is great. I love the fact that a micro-amp has a tube pre and still has all the warmth of a component system. 8lbs and for the money you can't beat it.

from what i was reading, the streamliner has a more punchy sound than the shuttle series, and of course its sexier

but I really dont have any experience with GB amps...

Not bashing MB, but I have to disagree with you statement.

For $679 you can only get 500 watts at 4 ohms.

Where for $829 you can get Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 that pumps out 900 watts at 4 ohms.

A better BANG for the BUCK, and better customer support. JMHO

dudi8: do some searching on here and learn more about Genz Benz. I have owned BOTH SHUTTLE and STREAMLINER. They are very different, and the STREAMLINER has a more DEEP, WOOLY, OLD SCHOOL vibe to me.

I have seen the 900 watters go new for less than that too. Also I have yet to play a piece of Markbass gear that has impressed me enough to care what its price is, it has mostly struck me as pretty lack luster.

Oh I have owned MB as well, but I had no issues with them. I was just a little leery of the company being all the way over in Italy.

how do you describe the sound of the shuttle 9.2?

I haven't had alot of time with the Shuttle 9.2. I've owned the 6.0 and 3.0, but can tell you that there is a more HI-FI sound with the Shuttle 9.2 over the 9. It can get very punchy, and also dial in some nice lows as well.

I've never used the TC head, but looks like the preset option might work nicely for someone like yourself who doesn't like to fiddle with knobs.

Its a very loud 236w amp. Voiced more old school, very mid rangey, tighter lows and highs.

and btw the SL 900 and 600 , for playing mainly at home and small gigs is the 600 enough? or its worth to add the extra cash for the 900?

Depending on what kind of deal you can get, I would be more drawn to the 900. Yes its a very powerful amp and will be more than most need. The additional power adds a lot of headroom in the lows though. Personally I really like having that head room.
