I know marketing drives sales, but that is just blatant misinformation.
236 watts compared to 750?
Power module rating
750W (1200W inst. Peak @ min. Load)

750W (1200W inst. Peak @ min. Load) | Dig around here... it was a big to-do a while back. As many have said the TC heads are plenty loud but many feel they have mis-represented themselves a little too much via the power ratings on these amps.

The GK MB-500 is 500 watts of power at less than 4 lbs and has an unbelievably punchy and articulate tone, that still retains the GK growl and warmth when driven, and the MB-fusion is the same thing, but with a nice tube preamp built-in for a little more vintage warmth and harmonic content. I've seen the MB-500 used for $300-400 and the Fusion for about $100 more.

They are all great. But don't let the TC rants put you off a great amp.

If you want a do it all amp with crazy flexibility, the Max 9.2 is hard to beat.
The 750 is like a flexible well featured tube amp with lots of mids!
The Streamliner is a warm round hammer! Lots of headroom, great sweet treble control.

BTW, I also use GK amps and cabs, GK cabs sound great with the Big Bang.

It has tube warmth and GK power. 500 watts. Two channels with footswitch. Very versatile tone shaping with active 4 band EQ and variable contour knob, along with mid switch between 500k and 800k. Also has Presence switch and Deep switch, limiter, effects loop, dual Speakon/quarter inch combo jacks, XLR out with pre/post EQ switch, and combination line out/headphone out (switchable) quarter inch jack. All this at a ridiculously light 4.5 pounds, I believe...
They're coming out with the MB Fusion "800" soon, so I imagine you'll see a few MB Fusion "500" ads as people look to upgrade to more power. But, I don't see myself ever needing more volume than mine at 500 watts through my two GK115MBE cabs. The MB Fusion will sound sweet and LOUD through your GK212MBE.

A better BANG for the BUCK, and better customer support. JMHO | Agree, Markbass are quite expensive. GK MB and Amoeg PF are the bang for the bucks, at least here in Norway. |

The Orange BT500 is the king of power among this micros, and it is not as expensive as the Markbass. But the Orange seem to be quite limited regarding tone flexibility.

I think both of them are great amps while there are many differences. The Streamliner to me has a big deep sound. It is not difficult to dial in a sound you like. The Big Bang is basically the LMIII with a few extra features. Again pretty easy to dial in a sound you like. I would decide how much power you actually need and also if you like more of a tube sound or a solid state sound. |

While they are quite expensive here in Norway I always liked the look of the Markbass and the design look solid. Tried Markbass a few times in a shop, really nice stuff. |

However I also think it takes a little more tweaking to get the mids to come thru. The Big Bang is more equally balanced on the flat setting but not as punchy. For me I never play with the settings flat. I have different settings I use for each bass as they alll sound different. Hope that helps. Good luck. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
