1) Are you keeping the cab?
2) What tone did you want that couldn't get out of the old setup?
3) Does it need to be a super small head or can it be a little bigger size wise
4) Do you need super diversity in tone for coverbands, diverse music or just want your own signature tone?

Wait a few months, rumor is GK is coming out with a MBfusion 800. Apparently theres a demo of it on bassplayerlive but I can't seem to find it yet.

Now... GK NEO series is VERY light on the low end, pretty strong in the high mids
I personally prefer tubes with GK NEOs...
IMO I strongly disagree with a MB500, MB800, 1001RB, 700RB with that cab. The tone is too thin & your diversity in tone will be lacking... unless thats just the tone you're shooting for.
Also... I think the Fusion micro 500 would be a much better match for that cab tone wise... but 500w? Meh
So yes you are at a LOSE-LOSE with the GK amps at this moment.
I personally love my Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 which has both a MB Fusion Tube & MB800 FET channels & is 900 watts. Now its not as small size wise but is very light
The Markbass tube would be a good match as well as a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 which has the tube channel only. TC heads with a tube... etc
Try those out but I agree with you... GK heads for that 410 NEO right now are Lose Lose, IMO

I wish there were more reviews on youtube for some of these heads. Cause anything i want right now, I'll have to order online which is making me nervous. Normally I like to go to the store, try it out, then buy it cheaper online. I'm thankful for ppl like KJung and Chef.
Here is what Chef told me when i was / still trying to select an amp: Quote: |

I liked the MarkBass F500, and the GK MBFusion.
I like the GK212 with the MBFusion. Quote: |

It would seem you live close enough to Chicago you could just go actually try both of these heads if you wanted to.
Or, you could order both and return one.
They don't sound hugely different.

he needs a tube micro >800 watts, I think he knows it... and GK doesn't offer it

I've never used all the MB-Fusion puts out, and even more so for the MB800...My needs certainly aren't everyone elses

Just ribbing. That's one of the things I like about that head. It's very thick, punchy, and cutting, and it's also possible to tame the midrange with the semi-parametric mid controls if it's too much. |

The 410 NEO is a beast, if you have a 500w amp might as well get a smaller cab
So final word
Littlemark Tube 800
Shuttle 9.0
Shuttlemax 9.2
TC 750
Streamliner 900 (My personal favorite with GK NEO cabs) But not versatile
Although the MB Fusion micro would still work
What wont work... MB800 too little lows with a cab that has too little lows

I like bigger amps that can push a big 8 ohm cab if one day he grabs one of those, then its only putting out 350-375w
The cab can handle more why not use it?
Sure 500 watts works... but why not grab more if you can? It NEVER hurts to have too many watts, it COULD hurt to not have enough... outdoor gigs... two big 8 ohm cabs later...

In my user experience, the MBF and one 8 ohm 212 has been plenty.
Again, I'm not "everyman" in my needs.

GK Fusion 500 tube micro is $699... I grabbed my Shuttlemax 9.2 for $689... Streamliner 900 for $750
Watts & features vs price goes to Genz... my fault for not making that clear.
Now cabs... price to performance edge goes to GK NEOs over Genz cabs

The MBF800 when it comes out will be priced in line with your GB stuff.
However, the SL900 and MBFusion sound very, very different; at least to me.
