Micro-vr 2 cabs hook-up issue?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I vaguely remember reading about this but I can't seem to find the thread. Apologies if this has been discussed in length before!

I have the Micro-vr A00 revision model with 1 SVT210AV cab (B00 revision). I understand I'll face some issues if I add another SVT210 cab
I haven't tried it and don't know what the problem is exactly. Can someone please shed some light on this?

Also, will I have the same problem is I go for a different 2nd cab? say B115/SVT115?

Thanks guys!

I think it is just an issue when running 2 of the svt210av's and the micro vr. Here is a thread covering lots of detail...

Yup. Call Ampeg and have them mod your head. I don't know if the "fix" has hit production or IF it is hitting production at all at this point. They modded mine to fix the issue and the amp didn't sound the same and I lost a ton of headroom. They replaced my entire setup with something else.

Only happens with the Micro VR head and the SVT210AV cabs. Use other cabs it's fine.

If you push the gain hard with moderate volume and have a harder attack playing style it will fart out the amp and cabs.

So the 'issue' ONLY happens when using 2 of the 210AV cabs?
It's ok with other cabs running at 4 ohms?

That is really odd. Is the distortion to do with a gain stage in the amp - or overloading the bins?

ALL Micro VR heads. New ones aren't out. If you haven't sent it to Ampeg to get fixed you potentially have the problem.

benmoore88 Is the 410hlf a good match for the micro? I've heard that this cab sucks a lot of power and needs a powerful head...
Wouldn't it be overkill for the 200W micro? I'm interested in your experience!

If I were to use a 410hlf, a Micro VR wouldn't be my first choice. It'll work fine, but if you're looking to push big volume, I'd go with a PF500 or PF350. It's a little quieter than the 410he using the same power, but not by a whole lot.
