Mid 70's SVT Fan noise

I have a question for you vintage Ampeg bretheren...

The fan in my amp is pretty loud. I can have the volume at 9 o'clock & still hear it in my studio. It's a healthy loud however, no grinding or whining, just a normal fan hum. I've not yet tried it with a band but I know I wont be able to hear it at that point. Needless to say, I would like to possibly get a new one. Any recommendations from you? John K has given me a link to one that looks great & has an operating noise level of 33db but just thought I'd ask.

Mine has two brown wires & one green wire coming from it with a Molex type connector on the end & plugs directly into the main wiring harness. Have you seen these before? Most of the ones I can find only have two wires. Also, it's made by Rotron, in the USA no less, which leads me to believe it may be the original, or at least close to. I'd like to get a plug-n-play type fan if at all possible so I don't have to break out the snippers, soldering iron & electrical tape.

Any info or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

-John

well since rotron doesn't make that version of the fan anymore, a substitute should work perfectly, so you'll have to get the wire strippers and heat shrink tubing out to do it right (splice it to the connector). it's really no big deal and you can probably find one that has the same cfm (60) but has a lower dB rating than the original too.

Thanks AGAIN John. Always coming to my aide!

So I assume the green wire coming from the fan is probably a ground wire? The two brown wires would be hot & cold? I'm just not sure how to tell which is which. I guess I can count on not finding one with the connector on it already. When I feel up to it I'll take the back off again & get a better look at the connector & see exactly how I'd splice the new wires in.

Thanks again John,
-John

John, correct me but isn't the fan 12vac? Mine just has two black wires (SVT-VR though).
