MIK Ampeg Heads

I'm sure this has been addressed here before, but looking for a direct answer from some people with experience. What do you think of the Made In Korea ampeg amps, specifically the SVT Classic?

I own an SVT-3 and have been planning on switching to possibly an SVT-4 to do 2 ohms. A one year old MIK SVT-CL just popped up on craigslist for $800. Missing a knob but other than that in great shape.

Now I would love to get my hands on an old 70s SVT, but I'm selling my main gear to fund the new amp + cab purchase and $800 is probably the max I can go, so this seems worth considering. If it makes any difference, I play mainly death metal, doom, stoner rock, etc. Any input is much appreciated!

i think the korean heads are really good. honestly, i notice no difference between them and any other svt cl's i've played.

That's good to hear. While I understand the loyalty to USAs as long as they sound and function well it doesn't make much of a difference to me. I love my Korean made Soundgear, although that's not really in the same boat.
