Mini-rig: Is this a bad idea? Ampeg & Epifani?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm putting together a mini rig and I'm looking for suggestions for the final piece.

Currently the rig is VT bass> Shuttle 6 > Ampeg SVT 210 AV. What should I use for a second cab? I like vintage sounds, but would not mind increasing lows and low mids.

I'm torn between adding another 210 AV or doing something crazy like a UL-112.

I'm looking for light in weight and on the pocket book.

Any thoughts guys and gals?

have you played the acoustic mini rig? only $300, and super sweet sounding

Avatar 1x12 SB112?

It'd increase lows and low-mids, and it's affordable.

That is what I am thinking of grabbing for my mini-rig. That or the Hartke HX112.

(Also, there is nothing light-on-the-pocketbook about the Epifani UL-112.)

The best cab to complement one 210AV is another.

I was considering the avatar, but the Hartke was off my radar. I've got a line on a UL112 for a good price, that's why I'm considering that.

Good input, keep it coming.

The Hartke HX112 has some good things going for it. Obviously, it has the Hydrive speaker with the aluminum and paper cone, so it'll give a nice balance between crisp and warm tones. It is switchable between 4 ohm and 8ohm impedence, so it can be used by itself in smaller joints, or with another 8 ohm cab for bigger places. And, it has an HF attenuation switch to cut the tweeter horn if you find it too sharp.

I am really leaning toward that cab. And it's only $350 shipped.

it's possible the epi cab may work with the 210av. it's also just as possible that it will be a dismal failure together. only way you'll know is to try it. but a second 210av will definitely work well with your first.

+1 another identical cab will give you everything you're looking for. Anything else is pure speculation.

there you go. i have one, and i love it. every time i went to guitar center i plugged in and was just as amazed as the last time i went there, so finally i broke down and bought it. sounds awesome, much better than the ampeg imo, and half the cost. definitely try to test one out

If you're going for a mini rig but want more lows, a second cab will take this rig out of mini territory.

1 cab.

Why not just get the UL-112 and go from there to take it out of mini-rig territory...get a second UL-112.
