Well, I have a D210XLT reading 8 ohms on the back of the cab. I blew a cone on tour and in a hurry bought a pair of EC1060F speakers on the road. I assumed they were either 4 or 8 ohm, but realized when i had my flashlight and screwdriver out in the parking lot before a gig that they read "16 ohm" on the back of the magnet. What to do now?
Obviously the cab is wired in series, with two 4 ohm speakers combining to total the load at 8 ohms for the cab. I sure as hell don't want to end up with a 32 ohm cab, but I had no choice but to put one 16 ohm speaker in alongside the remaining 4 ohm speaker, to help protect the original speaker from blowing while taking the noisy one out of the chain. The show must go on...
What the hell do I do now with a 4 ohm speaker and 2 16 ohm speakers? Can I rewire the harness in parrallel? I couldn't find any Eden literature detailing this process. What would that leave me with, a 12 ohm cab or something? Am I in danger of blowing my head now too? Any advice is appreciated. I'm good at most things audio; cab impedance being the last of them.
My plan right now is to carefully run the cab with the original 4 ohm speaker and the new 16 ohm speaker until I can get a replacement speaker. I unfortunately just sold my backup and quickly squandered the funds.
I have a WT 550 head, if that helps. Also, on a related note, if anybody wants to sell a 4 ohm EC1060XL speaker let me know.
