Missing Output for GK 1001RB?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

Although I've had it for a few months I've finally decided to stop being lazy and inquiring about my GK 1001RB-II head. I picked it up via a seller on Craigslist, and managed to buy the GK 1001RB-II head and a 410RBH for $700 total, which was a fantastic deal in itself. The cabinet performs great, and even the head sounds perfect. However, in the back of the head, one of the "output" instrument cable plugs is missing. Not a part, just the whole where it's supposed to be is empty, and you can stare right into the guts of the head. Also, the speakon outputs for the head don't appear to be working.

While i'm a little frustrated that I didn't see this when I made the sale, I'm not trying to go back at the seller; after all, I got a great deal on the half stack. My question is: is this easily fixable if I bring it in to an expert? May seem like a silly question, I know, but I want to see if it's worth it. I'm kinda hurting for money but obviously i'd love to get the most out of my amplifier.

Thanks ahead of time, guys

Yup, output jacks can be easily replaced. Most nowadays are soldered directly onto a circut board, which is still an easy job to do.

I'm also curious on why the amp head only has one output, yet has the hole for the other... is there any explanation for why someone would either:

A) remove an output?

or

B) Release a GK product with only one output?

The 1/4" jacks are plastic. One broke, so a previous owner removed it. In the process, something got messed up at the Speakons. An easy fix.

Indeed, it's tech time! Shouldn't cost too too much to fix. You do have to get it checked out ASAP before you use the amp. If the output wiring is loose you could develop a short which could kill the amp. Don't use it again until the tech has looked at it.
