Mistake? MB210-II Not a MB212-II
 

OK, I need some advice. I have on order a Gallien-Krueger MB210-II which I plan on using for practice. I do not gig, but do have friends who come over to the house from time to time to play music with. I have a Beheringer 45 watt 10'' amp I have been using for practice and it sounds bad. In the cellar, used in the summer when it is warmer, I have a old 90's Peavey Combo 115 200 watt amp. The old Peavey sounds great but I need two people to lug it out of the cellar and my wife does not want to see it in the spare bed room.

So I ordered the MB210-II. Question is should I have ordered the MB212-II. Will the 210 sound as good as the 212 but not as loud. Loudness is not an issue for me, but sound quality is.

Thanks for your advice. I am just afraid I screwed up and ordered the wrong unit.

You may need to trim back the bass on the 210, other than that you did fine. The MB210 II will allow adding an unpowered 8 ohm extension cab and even a powered cab later if the need comes up.

It's only a mistake if you don't like the way that 10" drivers sound. I think both are rated at 500w so the difference in volume would probably be negligible. The only difference between the units will be the way the drivers respond. I've not played either, but I doubt the tone of the 210 will leave you wanting.

There's no doubt that the two amps would sound different. Unless you A/Bed them there is no real way to know which you would personally prefer.

I played through one of these combos at an open jam and the sound it put out was amazing. You will be fine.

The MB210 puts out 350 watts with the internal speakers only, 500 watts with a 8 ohm extension cab. Still a capable unit on its own.
